Megan Mead is a queer director and writer who grew up in both rural Georgia and Northern-California; they came out as queer while studying at bible college in Los Angeles; all that to say, Megan has a particular fondness for weirdos and outsiders. Their queer coming-of-age feature Magpie won best screenplay at Out on Film’s 2022 Competition and their directed shorts—Every Corner and Gone Postal—have been selected for over a dozen film festivals. Megan’s stories embrace duplexity, combining both ardent whimsey and gutting, heartfelt emotion. They believe that, just as in life, humor and sorrow play equal roles and that no dramatic moment is safe from a punchline.

Based out of Los Angeles, Rachel travels all over to work and live life with her husband and cat. She is always down to discuss philosophies about human nature or how fuzzy and adorable her cat is. She's happy either way.
